CITY OF MALOLOS – In a commendable demonstration of solidarity and support in times of calamities, the Provincial Government of Bulacan has distributed a total of P3 million financial assistance to various disaster-stricken areas across the Philippines on Wednesday (Nov. 13).
This initiative aims to aid victims affected by recent natural disasters, including the ashfalls from Mt. Mayon and the devastating impacts of Tropical Storm Kristine.
A significant portion of this financial aid, amounting to P2 million, has been directed to Albay Province, which has been grappling with the aftermath of last year’s Mt. Mayon ashfalls and the recent impacts of Tropical Storm Kristine. The assistance was officially received by Governor Baby Glenda Ong, who expressed her gratitude for the support extended to her constituents.
In addition, the City of Naga, which faced severe flooding due to Tropical Storm Kristine, received P500,000 to assist its residents. The funds were handed over to City Mayor Nelson Legacion and Municipal Administrator Joselito Del Rosario, who highlighted the importance of community resilience in the face of adversities.
Talisay, Batangas, also benefitted from this humanitarian effort, receiving P500,000 in aid for the victims of landslides that tragically claimed many lives during the recent storm. Mayor Nestor D. Natanauan, along with Municipal Administrator Alfredo Anciado and MDRRMO Mark Panganiban, expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the timely assistance.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office headed by Manuel M. Lukban, Jr. played a crucial role in coordinating this relief effort, with teams led by Division Heads Ma. Luisa Tapican and Bryan Cyro Velasco closely managing the disbursement of funds and ensuring that aid reaches those who need it most.
Governor Daniel R. Fernando issued directives to ensure the swift distribution of financial aid, reinforcing Bulacan’s commitment to providing support in times of calamities and fostering recovery in affected communities.
“For Bulacan, it is a priority to lend a helping hand to our fellow Filipinos during their time of need. This financial assistance is a testament to our solidarity and compassion, and we hope it brings some relief to those affected by these unfortunate events,” Fernando stated. (UnliNews Online)
