CITY OF MALOLOS — To help the agricultural communities recover from the recent lashing of Tropical Storm Kristine and other economic challenges, the United Arab Emirates led by the Emirates Red Crescent, distributed a total of 3,000 boxes of essential goods to the Bulakenyo farmers in the province last Saturday (Nov. 23) at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium here.
Delivered by the representatives from UAE including Mr. Obaid Ahmed Alshehhi, First Secretary of UAE Embassy in Manila, and Mr. Motaz Mohamed Salih Mustafa Mohamed Salih, Program Leader of the Emirates Red Crescent, the 3,000 boxes were distributed to pre-identified farming communities across various municipalities and cities in Bulacan, containing five kilograms of rice, food supplies, hygiene items and other necessities.
In his address, Governor Daniel R. Fernando personally expressed his gratitude to the UAE government for their aid to the province’s farming sector.
“This generous donation from the United Arab Emirates reflects the strong international partnerships we continue to foster for the welfare of our people. These goods symbolize hope and encouragement for our farmers who tirelessly work to ensure our food security. On behalf of the Bulakenyos, we are truly grateful,” the governor said.
Fernando also mentioned his plans to level up the agricultural sector by establishing facilities in Doña Remedios Trinidad such as Productivity Center, Breeding Center and Multiplying Center, which will all boost the productivity of farmers and fisherfolks in the province by providing free fertilizers, seedlings, and livestock.
Accordingly, after the onslaught of Tropical Storm Kristine, the Provincial Agricultural Office recorded a total amount of P561,695,711.45 damages to agriculture affecting 3,388 farmers and fisherfolks. (UnliNews Online)
