ACPO City Director, BFP personnel conduct inspection at firecracker selling zones

CAMP TOMAS J PEPITO, Angeles City — Aimed at ensuring public safety during the holiday season, Police Colonel Amado A. Mendoza Jr., Angeles City Police Office (ACPO) City Director, in collaboration with personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), conducted a thorough inspection of two designated firecracker selling zones in the city.

According to Col Mendoza, this initiative underscores the commitment of local authorities to regulate the sale of firecrackers and fireworks, ensuring that the public enjoys a safe and celebratory atmosphere during the festive season.

The inspection, was focused on verifying compliance with regulations that govern the sale of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices. These regulations are intended to reduce the risk of fire hazards and injuries, especially as the city prepares for the traditional New Year’s Eve festivities where fireworks are a common sight.

A key point highlighted during the inspection was the strict prohibition of selling firecrackers in residential areas or outside of the designated selling zones. Authorities have been clear in their message that the sale, purchase, and use of firecrackers at home is illegal and poses significant risks to both individuals and the community.

Mendoza emphasized that these designated areas are carefully selected based on safety considerations, ensuring that both buyers and sellers are in a controlled environment. He urged vendors and the public to comply with these regulations, stating, “We are committed to keeping our communities safe, and that includes ensuring that firecrackers are only sold in approved zones, not in homes or unauthorized areas. Violators will face strict penalties, including fines and potential legal action”.

The inspection serves as an important reminder to both sellers and consumers that firecracker safety is a shared responsibility. Authorities continue to advocate for the public’s safety, encouraging individuals to avoid illegal and dangerous practices and using unregulated pyrotechnic devices. (UnliNews Online)
