Fernando pleads PBBM to review memorandum on firecrackers, pyrotechnic devices

CITY OF MALOLOS — Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando recently asked President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. to review Memorandum Order No. 31, series of 2018 that suspends the processing of new licenses and permits for the manufacture, sale, and distribution of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices.

The governor also highlighted the provincial government’s thrust to support the fireworks and pyrotechnic industry while also maintaining the safety of the general public thus his clarification on the term “Ingat Paputok” not “Iwas Paputok”.

In accordance to this, Fernando also said during an interview that he issued Executive Order No. 40, series of 2024 supporting the implementation of the “Oplan Ingat Paputok” campaign to promote public safety and regulate pyrotechnic industry in the Province of Bulacan.

The EO states that the Oplan Ingat Paputok will implement a proactive and unified approach, ensure compliance with national laws and regulations, and device public awareness and education campaigns.

Meanwhile, PNP Chief PGen. Rommel Francisco D. Marbil in his statement guaranteed the public that they will ensure that all firecracker and pyrotechnic for manufacture and sale are compliant with the law; protect the industry; and commits to a safe new year celebration.

Civil Security Group Director PMGen. Leo M. Francisco cautioned the public against buying pyrotechnic and fireworks online stating that it is prohibited.

Fernando said that the Joint Pyrotechnics Regulatory Board (PRB) and Philippine National Police (PNP) Fireworks Stalls Inspection was conducted on Wednesday in Santiago Compound, Brgy. Turo, Bocaue, Bulacan. (UnliNews Online)
