CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — A total of 119 individuals including operators were arrested in separate anti-illegal gambling operations across the region, over the weekend, from April 22 to 23, 2023.
According to the reports submitted to Police Regional Office 3, Central Luzon cops caught in the act and instantly arrested 72 individuals for illegal card and tile-based betting game such as “tong-its”, cujao, monte, “pusoy” and mahjong. On the other hand, 33 persons were nabbed for “tupada” or illegal cockfighting and “online sabong”.
Moreover, nine individuals for “cara y cruz” and five players of pool poker were also arrested. A fruit game machine that is being used for gambling was also seized in one of the operations conducted.
Confiscated from the arrested persons were betting money amounting to more than P67,000, playing cards, fighting cocks, pool table and other materials used for their illicit activities.
Arrested persons will be charged for violation of PD 1602 or Anti-Illegal Gambling Law.
Brig. Gen. Jose S. Hidalgo Jr., said that these arrests were a result of positive coordination of the police with concerned citizens.
“All kinds of illegal activities have no room in Central Luzon and I would like to note that most of our operations against gamblers came from the information reported by law-abiding citizens of our region,” Hidalgo added. (UnliNews Online)
