CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Health Office-Public Health on Monday (March 3) has issued an advisory regarding the activation of Dengue fast lanes in all government hospitals in the province.
The Department of Health (DOH)-Central Luzon reported that Bulacan has the highest number of dengue fatalities in Central Luzon so far this year.
These fast lanes are crucial for early detection, prompt treatment, efficient care to patients, and active management of Dengue cases, especially during outbreaks.
Based on the advisory on Monday by the Provincial Health Office-Public Health, government hospitals should establish specific zones or lanes dedicated solely to the assessment and management of suspected Dengue patients. They should also ensure an adequate supply of necessary medical equipment and medications, including intravenous fluids, diagnostic tools and essential medications, to effectively manage Dengue patients.
Furthermore, it is also stated that hospitals should collaborate with local health authorities to inform the public about the existence and purpose of Dengue fast lanes, which encourages early consultation and detection of suspected cases.
It can be recalled that as early as January 2025, Gov. Daniel R. Fernando has already issued a memorandum to all the city and municipal mayors about intensifying the conduct of preventive measures to avoid and control the possible rise of Dengue cases in the province after logging an 83% increase this year compared to the recorded cases (6,437) on the same period in 2023.
Memorandum DRF-01132025-035 mandates all local government units to conduct simultaneous and extensive cleanup activities every day in every barangay at 4 PM; conduct search and destroy operations regularly; encourage early and immediate consultation at health centers or hospitals when experiencing any symptoms of Dengue; maintain a clean and unclogged irrigation system; conduct massive information dissemination and community forums; drink water regularly to prevent dehydration; and for all Barangay Health Workers to conduct active surveillance in their respective localities and immediately refer residents with fever for two days, at the nearest health center or hospital to be given proper treatment.
On his statement, Fernando emphasizes that the treatment for Dengue in government hospitals in the province is free and encourages Bulakenyos to continuously donate blood to help save lives.
“Kung may nararamdaman na po kayong sintomas ng Dengue, huwag na pong mag-atubili na magpatingin sa health center o sa ating mga pampublikong ospital, libre naman po ito. Mahalaga po ang early detection, mas maagang ma-detect kung may Dengue kayo, mas mabilis na malalapatan kayo ng angkop na lunas. Sa sama-sama nating pagkilos ay maililigtas sa sakit na Dengue ang buhay ng bawat Bulakenyo,” the governor said.
He also added that Dengue spraying chemicals were allotted among LGUs during fogging and spraying on areas with clustering of cases. (UnliNews Online)
