Bulacan launches first K4 Community Resilience Program in Meycauayan

CITY OF MEYCAUAYAN — To enhance awareness and strengthen emergency response skills, the Provincial Government of Bulacan through its Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) has successfully conducted recently the first Kaalaman at Kahandaan ay Katatagan sa Kalamidad (K4), a community resilience program in Brgy. Ubihan here.

This initiative strengthens disaster preparedness at the grassroots level by equipping communities with essential knowledge and skills in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) and Basic First Aid/Basic Life Support (BLS) ā€“ CPR, attended by 100 participants including barangay officials, barangay tanod, students, Lingkod Lingap sa Nayon volunteers, and Mother Leaders.

In addition, the PDRRMO donated 100 first aid kits, trauma bags, cleaning materials and slippers for the participants and conducted a cleanup drive at Ubihan Elementary School along with the Sangguniang Barangay members.

Accordingly, Brgy. Ubihan was selected for this yearā€™s K4 program as it is considered one of the geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDAS) in the province.

The PDRRMO also assured that the K4 program will be replicated in other geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas across the province, ensuring that more Bulakenyos are equipped with life-saving knowledge and preparedness skills especially the children, youth and vulnerable sectors, encouraging their participation in matters that will increase their resiliency.
