FLORIDABLANCA, Pampanga — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Pampanga 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) and the Rotary Club of Greater Floridablanca (RCGF) conducted on Thursday (May 11) a joint tree planting activity at Basa Air Base National High School (BABHS) in said town.
RCGF President Engr. Ferdinand Mallari Beltran donated the trees that were planted in front of the school. President-Elect Tony Yuson and Secretary Romy Santos joined him in the tree-planting activity, and the Rotarian officers expressed their gratitude for the support provided to their cause.
Meanwhile, District Engineer Gregorio D. Audea, Jr. expressed the office’s full support for this environmental initiative, as he was fully aware of the need to plant more trees to mitigate global warming.
“The famous quote by Warren Buffet, ‘Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago,’ highlights the profound impact of even one small act, such as planting a tree, which can leave a lasting impact not only on the present but also on future generations. We are honored to have partnered with the Rotary Club of Greater Floridablanca for this activity,” Audea explained.
On the other hand, OIC-Assistant District Engineer John Paolo S. Tan also showed his fervent support for this activity.
“This is an apt analogy for the beginning of my service here in Pampanga 2nd DEO. Just like the trees planted today, which will one day grow tall and provide shade and clean air, I also hope to grow and learn to become a good executive and servant-leader to my colleagues in the district,” Tan enthused.
BABHS Principal Ricky C. Balingit and the current adviser of the school’s Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O), Donald Manio, expressed their gratitude to both parties for their efforts in beautifying the school entrance and providing a beneficial project for their students.
