CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — Through the initiative of Senate Majority Leader Senator Joel Villanueva, more than 2,000 Bocaueños received cash assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) and Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD) programs.
Vice Mayor Sherwin N. Tugna said on Monday that the separate payout activities were held on Sunday in Bocaue Municipal Covered Court in Barangay Igulot and in Barangay Binang 2nd spearheaded by Senator Villanueva and his brother Bocaue Mayor Jon Jon Villanueva, together with personnel from the DSWD and DOLE.
Vice Mayor Tugna also added The AICS and TUPAD payout activities were made on the 3rd year death anniversary of his loving wife, the former Bocaue Mayor Joni Villanueva-Tugna who succumbed to sepsis secondary to bacterial pneumonia last May 28, 2020, at the height of Covid-19 pandemic.
The AICS grant was given to 1,600 Bocaue residents while 433 individuals get TUPAD cash aid.
On his part, Senator Villanueva said “We want to remember the value of being a Bocaueño through this kind of service and to continue the legacy of Mayor Joni, my loving sister”.
Aside from AICS and TUPAD payout, the 19 barangays in Bocaue also received P1-million cash assistance each from Senator Villanueva’s Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) fund for assistance to indigent individuals or families. (UnliNews Online)
