CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — Department of Health Undersecretary Enrique A. Tayag announced recently that they will adopt Governor Daniel R. Fernando’s suggestion to tap the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials to increase the Fully Immunized Children (FIC) coverage in the country.
During the recently concluded Measles Rubella- Oral Polio Vaccine Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR-OPV SIA) LCEs Symposium, Fernando expressed his desire to involve the SK to be vaccine advocates in empowering the community in overcoming vaccine hesitancy and building confidence in the vaccine.
“Turuan po natin ang ating mga SK. Bigyan po natin sila ng trabaho at papel para makamit ang ating target na 95% or more,” the governor proposed.
According to the data from the Provincial Health Office-Public Health, for the last five years, Bulacan has been below the 95% FIC National Target, reaching only 70.43% in 2018, 73.2% in 2019, 70.15% in 2020, 59.38% in 2021, and 76% in 2022, hence Fernando’s intensified campaign for immunization.
The governor also said that the Damayan sa Barangay Medical Mission will now carry vaccines so that after every orientation, Bulakenyos may opt to get vaccinated. (Unlinews Online)
