BUSTOS — The Department of Interior and Local Government Bulacan, in partnership with the Provincial Government through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) conducted a two-day activity entitled “2023 WEmboree: Changing Mindset from Me to We” recently.

According to Felicisima L. Mungcal, PDRRMO head, the activity that was attended by approximately ninety Sangguniang Kabataan officials and leaders of various youth organizations was aimed to increase the awareness of the youth regarding disaster preparedness.

“During the said  activity, the roles of the youth, especially the Sangguniang Kabataan officials were emphasized as it was discussed that disaster preparedness is mandated under the law and is one of the priority programs under the Philippine Youth Development Plan (PYDP), to which the Sangguniang Kabataan’s LYDP, CBYDP and ABYIP are anchored,” Mungcal said.

Simulation drills and exercises were also conducted by  the Bulacan Rescue to test the participants’ capability to respond on various emergency situations.
Lastly, the Department’s advocacy program Operation Listo was tackled, including its sub-program Listong Pamayanan.

In her message, Provincial Director Myrvi Apostol-Fabia, CESO V, reminded the participants of the importance of youth participation in nation-building and their crucial role in promoting community resilliency.
