No cloud-seeding ops yet despite receding Angat Dam water elevation

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — The water elevation of Angat Dam, the primary source of drinking water for Metro Manila residents, has receded to just a little above the six-meter mark above its minimum operating level of 180 meters.

Ret. Col. Manuel Lukban, acting chief, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) said that the water elevation of Angat Dam has gone down to 186.13 meters on Monday morning (June 19) compared to 186.51 on Sunday morning

Despite the receding water elevation of the dam, Sevillo David Jr., National Water Resources Board executive director, has confirmed to PNA that no cloud-seeding operations were yet scheduled to help raise the water elevation of Angat Dam.

He pointed out that if Angat Dam water elevation recedes below the minimum operating level of 180 meters, its water supply is prioritized for Metro Manila consumption as per protocol while irrigation and power generation water allocations will be suspended.
