Senator Go urges DOH to intensify campaign against leptospirosis, dengue

SAN MIGUEL, Bulacan — The Department of Health (DOH) was urged by Sen. Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go to intensify its campaign programs against leptospirosis and dengue as the rainy season contributes to flooding in low-lying areas.

The senator made the pronouncement after the inauguration of the super health center in Barangay Sta. Rita Matanda in this town on Tuesday.

Go said the public can avail of the services of the 158 Malasakit Centers scattered throughout the country for their medical needs.

Go with Congresswoman Lorna Silverio, Mayor Roderick Toingson, and other local public officials formally inaugurated one of the 15 Super Health Centers in Bulacan.

Go said in his short speech during the program, Super Health Center is a medium type of polyclinic but bigger than a rural health center.

“The super health center will serve as an extension of the municipal health center offering services such as consultation, dental, laboratory, x-ray, EENT, vaccination, and even as birthing center,” he said.

Municipal Health Office (MHO) head Dr. Kamir Hechanova said “this Superhealth Center ay magsisilbing RHU 5 ng San Miguel. Pinakauna at pinakamalaki sa 3rd district ng lalawigan. Nawa’y maging simbolo at inspirasyon para sa pagtaas ng antas ng pagbibigay ng health services.

Other super health centers in Bulacan are being constructed in the towns of Guiguinto, Balagtas, Bulakan, Pandi, San Miguel, Angat, Marilao, Obando, Paombong, Plaridel, San Ildefonso, and the Cities of Baliwag and San Jose del Monte City.

The senator also led the distribution of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) to 1,000 residents of San Miguel.
