PBBM leads relief distribution to affected communities in Bulacan

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Monday (Aug. 7) distributed disaster relief of more than P126 million to the cities and municipalities affected by southwest monsoon enhanced by typhoons Egay and Falcon.

“I wanted to further assess the situation of the province, coming from Pampanga via a helicopter, I myself, surveyed the areas and observed the extent of damages,” Pres. Marcos said during an interview.

The President was welcomed by Bulacan Gov. Daniel R. Fernando, Vice Gov. Alexis C. Castro, municipal mayors from the 20 towns and four cities in the province, heads of different departments from the Provincial Government of Bulacan headed by Provincial Administrator Antonia V. Constantino, and other concerned agencies.

Furthermore, the President also passed the relief distribution to witness and hear firsthand the situation of affected Bulakenyos.

DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian said that 170,000 relief packages were be given to all Bulakenyos who were greatly affected by the massive flood.

Along with this, the Department of Labor and Employment also distributed a total of P770,924.00 for the 154 beneficiaries of Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantage Workers (TUPAD), which is part of the total of 9,465 beneficiaries in the province with an allotted total amount of P41,697, 600.00 who will receive their payout in their respective municipalities.

Other than that, DOLE Secretary Bienvenido E. Laguesma facilitated the downloading of an additional fund allotment for emergency employment under the TUPAD program amounting to P80,000,000.00, while a portion of it amounting to P31,500,913.68 was allotted for the PGB to benefit some 6,100 TUPAD beneficiaries which are set for identification in accordance to the new DILEEP Guidelines.

Also, the DOLE Regional Office III granted DILP grant checks to six Local Government Units amounting to P3,800,000 through their respective Local Chief Executives including the Municipality of Angat with P500,000 for its 50 beneficiaries of livelihood starter and enhancement kits; P300,000 for the 15 beneficiaries from the Municipality of Obando; P500,000 for the 20 beneficiaries of the Municipality of San Miguel; P500,000 for the 25 beneficiaries from Municipality of Paombong; PP1,000,000 for the 50 beneficiaries from Municipality of San Rafael and P1,000,000 for the 66 beneficiaries from the City of Meycauayan.

Moreover, Gatchalian also added that P15 million were also given to the Provincial Government and P2 million each to the affected towns and cities in the province, while the Department of Agriculture (DA) Region 3 also distributed P4,318,840 worth of aid to the farmers and fisherfolks who were affected by the widespread flooding in the province.
