Bataan police nab suspect in Pakistani murder

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Authorities in Bataan, on Thursday (Aug. 10), apprehended the prime suspect in the killing of a Pakistani national last May in Bataan.

In his report to PRO3 Director Brig. Gen. Jose S. Hidalgo Jr., Col. Palmer Tria, Bataan PPO provincial director, said that operatives of Bataan Provincial Intelligence Unit led together with Mariveles MPS and Bataan 2nd PMFC conducted a police operation at Sitio Judea Brgy. Mt. View, Mariveles, Bataan which led to the apprehension of Angelo Perez y San Andres, 30 years old, and a resident of Purok 1, Brgy. Bangal, Dinalupihan, Bataan.

Perez was arrested by virtue of a Warrant of Arrest issued by Hon. Esperanza S. Paglinawan-Rosario, Presiding Judge, RTC, San Fernando City, Pampanga for Frustrated Murder under Criminal Case number 34375 dated with P200,000 recommended bail.

Seized from the suspect’s possession was one hand grenade, one cal. 45 pistol loaded with 6 live ammunition, one cal. 45 magazine with 8 live ammunition, several pieces of ammunition for cal.45 and cal.38, and four pieces of medium-sized plastic sachets containing suspected shabu.

The arrest follows the alleged involvement of Perez in the fatal shooting of Imran Akhtar, a 44-year-old businessman from Pakistan on May 23, 2023, at a private resort located in Dinalupihan.

“The arrest of Perez sheds light on the long-pending case as the motive behind the killing is yet to be determined and investigation continues in order to identify any potential accomplices involved in the crime. We also encourage anyone with relevant information to come forward and help give justice to the victim and his family,” Gen. Hidalgo remarked. (UnliNews Online)
