21 former insurgents rejoin gov’t, ex-rebel discloses arms cache

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Central Luzon police continue to make strides in their anti-insurgency efforts as an ex-rebel-surrenderer reveals an arms cache location, while 21 members of Communist Terrorist Groups/Communist Front Organizations (CTG/CFO) reaffirm their allegiance to the government on Thursday (Aug. 17).

Former Militiang Bayan member “Ka Bruno,” recently surrendered in Nueva Ecija, disclosed an arms cache location in Pantabangan, Nueva Ecija. The recovery included two Rifle Grenades, M203 ammunition, a hand grenade, magazines, live ammunition, tactical gear, wire, and a battery.

In Aurora Province, 16 former NPA in the Barrio members voluntarily surrendered and withdrew support, turning over firearms, explosives, subversive materials, and documents. “Ka Nato” and “Rowena” from Underground Mass Organizations also pledged loyalty, surrendering firearms, explosives, and communist literature.

In Zambales, former fighters “Ka Ana” and “Ka Recca” pledged loyalty, with “Ka Recca” surrendering a firearm and ammunition.

In Pampanga, a CTG member “Roy” disaffiliated and pledged allegiance to the government.

PRO3 Director Brig. Gen. Jose S. Hidalgo Jr. affirmed police support for reintegration efforts. He emphasized continuous encouragement for rebels to contribute to peace and progress alongside RTF-ELCAC and AFP. (UnliNews Online)
