P400K worth of shabu seized, ‘drug peddler’ nabbed in Bataan drug sting

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — In the waging war against the illegal drug trade, operatives from the Limay Municipal Police Station successfully apprehended a male suspect on Wednesday (Sept. 13) during a buy-bust operation in Bataan.

The arrested suspect was identified as Joseph Glenn Esconde, 43 years old and a resident of Brgy Layac, Dinalupihan, Bataan who sold a medium-sized transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu to a poseur buyer.

A subsequent search of Esconde yielded the discovery of two more large-sized plastic sachets believed to contain illegal drugs and a .38 caliber revolver loaded with five live rounds.

The total estimated weight of the confiscated alleged shabu amounts to 50 grams, with a street value of P400,000.

As a result of his alleged involvement in this illegal drug trade, criminal charges are being prepared against Esconde under the provisions of Section 5 and 11, Article 2 of Republic Act 9165, as well as RA 10591 and the Omnibus Election Code.

Brig. Gen. Jose S. Hidalgo Jr., Regional Director of PRO3, lauded the commendable achievement of the local police force. He seized the opportunity to urge all individuals involved in the unlawful distribution and consumption of prohibited substances to reconsider their actions. Instead, he called on them to become productive, law-abiding citizens, contributing to the advancement and prosperity of our nation.

“This operation demonstrates the unwavering commitment of law enforcement agencies to combat the illegal drug trade and maintain the safety and well-being of our communities. The Philippine National Police and its partners remain dedicated to this mission and will continue to take action against those who threaten the peace and security of our society,” Hidalgo said.
