CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — The towns of Guiguinto, Hagonoy and Doña Remedios Trinidad ended the celebration of Singkaban Festival 2023 with a bang.
For the first time, Guiguinto toppled all the other competitors in Parada ng Karosa and was hailed the Grand Champion for their entry inspired by the Halamanan Festival and took home P100,000 plus a trophy.
In second place was the Municipality of Angat, a first-timer in the competition, winning P70,000 and a trophy, and the Municipality of Bulakan in third spot with a P50,000 cash price and a trophy. Consolation prizes worth P25,000 each were given to the City of Meycauayan, Santa Maria, and Calumpit towns.
For the Arc Making Competition, the Municipality of Hagonoy won first place with a P60,000 cash prize, the Municipality of Marilao in second place with P35,000, and Calumpit town in third place with a P25,000 cash incentive. The runners up namely Bocaue, Bustos and San Miguel each received P10,000.
Furthermore, Ray Alvin Gumafelix got the first place in Cultural Costume Competition and took home P35,000 and a trophy for his entry of a doll wearing the adapted arts and culture of the town of DRT.
His entry is called “Mama Lourdes of Bulacan’s Last Frontier” wherein the said masterpiece pays homage to the Miraculous Nuestra Señora de Lourdes known as “Mama Lourdes of Sierra Madre: Church from the Hill” of DRT, a mountainous terrain with a majestic view in its summits.
On second place was John Errol Pascual who won P25,000 plus trophy representing the town of Calumpit; and third placer was Daniel Feliciano Gonzales who took home P15,000 plus trophy for Guiguinto. Consolation prizes worth P8,000 each were given to Marlon Fuentes (Bocaue), Lean Robert Abejuela (Bulakan) and Anthony Mancao (Pandi).
Vice Governor Alexis C. Castro together with Bulacan Culture and Arts Council Vice Chairman Romeo “Bobby” Dela Rosa led the awarding ceremony for the three competitions. (UnliNews Online)
