CITY OF MALOLOS — Governor Daniel R. Fernando encourages his fellow Bulakenyos to switch off unnecessary lights from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm on Saturday (March 25) and do their part in saving the planet by participating in Earth Hour.
According to Fernando, simple acts including turning off street lights, signages, majority of lights on offices, homes, and other establishments, could have a huge impact on responding to the problems brought by climate change.
“Ramdam natin ang pagbabago ng panahon. Nararanasan natin ang mga negatibong epekto ng climate change. Ngunit hindi pa huli ang lahat. Bawat isa sa atin ay may maiaambag upang tulungan ang Inang Kalikasan. May magagawa tayo. Umpisahan natin sa ating mga tahanan. Isang oras para sa ating kinabukasan,” the governor urged.
Earth Hour is a celebration across the globe by switching off the lights, an iconic action symbolizing unity and hope, and demonstrating the power of collective action for the future of the planet.
In addition to switching off lights, this year, Earth Hour organizers also encourage people to give an hour for the planet by learning more about Earth, reconnecting with it, restoring it, and inspiring others to care for the planet. (UnliNews Online)
