765 teachers in Bulacan town get free flu shots

PANDI, Bulacan — About 765 public and private school teachers received the flu influenza vaccine for free to ensure their health and maintain strong stamina on Monday at the Mamerto C. Bernardo Memorial Central School.

The said free vaccine was initiated by the local government of Pandi headed by Mayor Enrico Roque and administered by Pandi Municipal Health Office staff and nurses from the Department of Health (DOH)-Bulacan.

According to Roque, the teachers were from 76 schools including 28 public schools, 44 daycare schools, and 4 private schools.

He added that 655 teachers are from public schools and 110 teachers are from private schools.

“Our health and safety are more important than ever, so as a support and thank you for your hard work and dedication, the Pandi town Government is offering free influenza vaccination for you, our dear Teachers from public and private schools,” said the mayor.

The said free vaccine is part of the municipality’s health care concern that aims to provide protection to teachers against the flu that will affect their work and concentration while performing their duties.

Flu or influenza is an acute infection of the respiratory tract that is caused by any of the three types of influenza viruses (A, B, and C), each of which has several subtypes or strains.

Health care providers said flu viruses enter the mouth or nose by inhalation of droplets that are coughed, sneezed, or exhaled out by people with the disease; by direct contact with secretions from infected people; or by touching contaminated objects and then touching the nose or mouth with the hands.
