CITY OF MALOLOS — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Bulacan 1st District Engineering Office (DEO) successfully completed its Audit of Systems and Procedures for CY 2023.
Engr. Artemio Cruz and Engr. Leonelito Buncag from the Internal Audit Service (IAS) conducted the said audit and meticulously checked the documents from the Planning & Design, Construction, Quality & Assurance, and Maintenance Sections from October 16 to 20, 2023.
Furthermore, the internal auditors conducted on-site inspections to assess the actual project accomplishments and engaged in discussions with a focus on identifying and rectifying areas that required improvement within the overall project implementation process.
During the closing meeting, IAS Director Luz Dela Rosa emphasized that their role is not to merely identify faults but to correct any errors and determine areas where improvement is needed within the office.
“We are here to assess whether the office is still performing its duties correctly or if they have deviated slightly from our standards. Several changes have occurred in our department’s orders and policies, and it is imperative that we consistently adhere to and adopt all of these changes. This audit is necessary as there are risks that we sometimes unknowingly overlook,” Dela Rosa explained.
Meanwhile, District Engineer Henry Alcantara thanked the audit team for their efforts in helping the office improve its processes.
“We need to listen attentively and adhere to the relevant department orders and policies related to our project implementation. If problems are encountered in our projects, we must proactively address them and must do our part in diligently monitoring our processes,” Alcantara added.
The office welcomed the auditors’ remarks and assured them that it will continue to comply with all the department requirements to continue providing efficient public service, with employees of Bulacan 1st DEO ready and committed to delivering what is needed for the office to achieve the best performance.
