More than 2,500 barangays in Central Luzon already drug-cleared

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Police Regional Office 3 Director Brig. Gen. Jose S. Hidalgo Jr. said that he is elated after 2,568 of the 3,105 barangays of Region 3 have been declared drug-cleared.

Among the 7 provinces and 2 cities in Central Luzon, Aurora, Bataan and Tarlac have attained 100% drug-cleared barangays while 161 barangays regionwide are already drug free.

Before declaring that a barangay is free from illegal drug activities, the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs must validate the non-availability of drug supply, the absence of drug transit activity, clandestine drug laboratory and chemical warehouse, marijuana cultivation site, drug den, drug pushers and users in the area.

“Needless to say, I am in awe that while I am the Regional Director of PRO3, more towns and barangays have been reaching drug-cleared status after issuance of a certification by members of the Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug-Clearing Program,” Hidalgo said.

On Wednesday morning (Nov. 22), Cuyapo was already certified as drug-cleared town in Nueva Ecija. (UnliNews Online)
