187 firearms seized, 70 arrested under gun ban implementation in Nueva Ecija

NUEVA ECIJA POLICE PROVINCIAL OFFICE — A total of 187 firearms and 70 individuals were arrested in the Comelec gun ban from August 28 to November 28 this year by the Nueva Ecija Police for the Barangay and Sanguniang Kabataan Elections.

Reports reaching Col. Richard Caballero, Nueva Ecija police director, said 60 loose firearms of different calibers were confiscated in different police operations including .38 caliber revolver 12; .45 caliber pistol 10; .22 caliber seven; .32 caliber one; 9 mm gun thre; homemade shotguns three; and airguns/replica guns eight.

Besides these, 127 firearms of different calibers were also recovered under the PNP Balik-Baril Program.

Added to 5hese were a total of 26 different explosives (hand grenades, UXO, etc.), and 11 bladed/pointed weapons were also seized during the gun ban implementation.

These operations also led to 5he arrest of a total of 70 individuals while three suspects died in police operations. (UnliNews Online)
