BDO Foundation uplifts healthcare benefits to communities in Bohol

THE newly rehabilitated rural health units in the municipalities of Dauis and Inabanga in Bohol were recently turned over by BDO Foundation (BDOF) to improve healthcare accessibility in the communities.

With the completion of the two projects, more than 96,000 people in 62 barangays will have access to primary care that includes outpatient check-ups, vaccinations, and treatment for common illnesses, as well as maternal and child health services.

The rehabilitation efforts on the RHUs focused on refurbishing and upgrading the facilities to accommodate waiting areas, play corners for kids, offices, clinics, consultation, and treatment rooms – allowing health workers to serve more patients.

“We believe that these rehabilitated centers will continue to serve as vital hubs for healthcare delivery, making a tangible difference in the lives of Bohol’s residents,” said BDOF president Mario A. Deriquito. BDOF has now renovated 15 health centers in Bohol, covering about 1/3 of the province’s 47 municipalities.

To date, BDO Foundation has already rehabilitated 154 RHUs since it started to improve healthcare facilities and access in different communities of the country in 2012. Five more rehabilitated RHUs in Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Camarines Sur, and Capiz will be turned over this month.
