CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — A former Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Taiwan was arrested after claiming eight kilos of imported shabu amounting to P55,200,000.00 following a controlled delivery operation around 8 p.m. in Barangay Hugo Perez, Trece Martirez town on Tuesday (Dec. 19).
PDEA Pampanga Provincial Officer identified the apprehended suspect as Michael G. Florendo, 36 years old, single, former OFW, resident of Golden Horizon Courty, Barangay Hugo Perez, Trece Martirez, Cavite.
Operating teams said that the package containing crystal meth (shabu) arrived at the Port of Clark on December 17, 2023.
“The parcels containing the illegal drugs emanated from Long Beach, California, USA, and were consigned to Florendo. The discovery of the illicit items prompted us to launch a controlled delivery operation, ” the team leader said.
The operation was conducted by joint operatives of PDEA Pampanga Provincial Office, PDEA Clark AIU, PDEA ICFAS, Bureau of Customs (BOC) Port of Clark, PDEA Cavite PO, and the local police.
Recovered illegal drugs will be forwarded to the PDEA-3 Laboratory Section for forensic examination.
Florendo will be temporarily detained in PDEA-3 Jail facility in City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
A non-bailable offense of Section 4 (Importation of Dangerous Drugs) of Republic Act 9165 will be filed against Florendo. (UnliNews Online)
