CAMP GEN. ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — Two armed men and a barangay tanod were killed in an encounter with the local police in Brgy. Bahay Pare, Meycauyan City on Saturday night (Jan. 20).
In a statement on Sunday, Col. Relly Arnedo, Bulacan Provincial Director said that the Mecauayan police promptly responded upon receipt of a report via phone call from a concerned citizen in the said barangay.
Based on the report, Arnedo said that a shooting incident happened wherein the two suspects continuously fired indiscriminately towards the barangay hall of Bahay Pare without unknown reason around 8:12 p.m.
Arnedo added upon arrival at the scene, the two suspects shot the responding personnel of the Meycauayan police, which resulted in an armed encounter.
“The shootout resulted in the neutralization of the two suspects, both armed with a caliber .45 with an extra magazine,“ Arnedo said.
A barangay tanod sitting outside the barangay hall who was hit by a stray bullet was killed while a bystander was seriously injured and immediately rushed to the nearest hospital.
“The Bulacan PNP assures the public that they are safeguarded against these groups or individuals that escalate fear and violence within our community,“ Arnedo added. (UnliNews Online)
