The commemoration of the establishment of the first republic of the Philippines was held inside the church of Barasaoin where the ratification of the Malolos Constitution took place way back in the year 1899, creating what is known today as the First Philippine Republic.

In his meaningful message, Pres. Marcos assured that his administration would continue to look after the welfare of the Filipino people.

In his speech, Gov. Daniel Fernando, welcomed the arrival of the president of the Philippines, senators, at the historic Barasoain Church.

In this place, Fernando added the first Constitution of the Philippines was drawn up and drafted, so it is also in this place that we will commemorate the 125th anniversary of the first republic of the Philippines.

Malolos City Mayor Christian Natividad during an interview said “Kung meron mang unang yumakap at magtaguyod ng kauna-unahang may saligang batas na republika hindi lamang sa Pilipinas bagkus sa buong Asya at tayong mga Bulakenyo ang nakasilay ng kadakilaan ng isang malayang bansa”.

Also graced the event were AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr., Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) President Dr. Emmanuel Calairo, and Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin. (UnliNews Online)
