Search Warrant leads to seizure of undocumented firearms in Nueva Ecija

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Authorities in Nueva Ecija, spearheaded by Cuyapo Municipal Police Station (MPS) personnel, seized numerous unregistered firearms and ammunition from an individual in Barangay Curva, Cuyapo, Nueva Ecija, on Friday (March 8).

On a belated report, the operation leading to the apprehension of the suspect was conducted under the authority of Search Warrant No. 06-2024-OEJ issued in Guimba, Nueva Ecija. Operation of Cuyapo MPS personnel resulted in the confiscation of the following items: one caliber 45 pistol Norinco, one caliber 40 pistol Forjas Taurus, one caliber 9mm pistol Glock, one caliber 22 Rifle, six pistol magazines, four rifle magazines, 100 pieces of pistol ammunition, and 64 pieces of rifle ammunition.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) have been prepared against the suspect for court referral.

“We have been continuously beefing up our aggressive drive to recover and to seize loose firearms through continuous police operations and implementation of Search Warrants against illegal gun owners,” Hidalgo said.

He added, May this serve as a stern warning to all especially those who have not yet renewed their licenses or turned over their undocumented firearms in their nearest police stations for safekeeping. Stricter penalties are imposed against violators. (UnliNews Online)
