SENATE Majority Leader Joel Villanueva met with Iloilo Governor Toto Defensor and Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, to discuss the state of the province given the effects of extreme heat and water scarcity in relation to El Niño. Villanueva emphasized the importance of seeing the true situation on the ground to ensure that the policies being crafted by legislators are attuned to the needs of Filipinos. The majority leader, together with Mayor Treñas, also led the Department of Social Welfare and Development – Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (DSWD-AICS) payout to 1,000 beneficiaries of Iloilo City.
