‘The Capitol Hostel’ of Bulacan gets modernized, wins gold in FIABCI-Philippines

CITY OF MALOLOS — After three decades of serving the Bulakenyos as the Governance Center or the Center for Local Governance, Research, and Development, it’s now called The Capitol Hostel and was recently awarded a gold trophy for 2024 Outstanding LGU – Public Infrastructure/Amenities Category at the FIABCI-Philippines Property and Real Estate Excellence Awards held at the Centennial Hall A, The Manila Hotel 1 Rizal Park, Manila.

The International Real Estate Federation, known in French as the “Fédération Internationale des Administrateurs de Bien-Conselis Immobiliers” (FIABCI), is a global business networking organization for real estate professionals, established in Paris in 1951.

Provincial Engineer’s Office Head Engr. Glenn D. Reyes said that the renovation was the initiative of Governor Daniel R. Fernando as he wants to improve and expand the building to be able to cater to more Bulakenyos and guests alike.

Originally constructed in 1988 to house the offices of local officials and esteemed guests, the center was later repurposed as a facility for COVID-19 patients.

At present, the edifice has been renamed as The Capitol Hostel which radiates a modern design with a touch of traditional Bulacan culture.
Through the use of sustainable materials rather than traditional ones, the construction is supposed to mimic a modern “Bahay na Bato”.

In order to represent the Bulakenyos’ warmth and hospitality, the façade was renovated from solid concrete to glass, letting light illuminate the interior. The glass also allows natural light to enter during the day, minimizing the need for artificial lighting.

The wooden fluted panels give a warm vibe and in order to adhere to contemporary building regulations, the building also has structured cabling and fire prevention. (UnliNews Online)
