NPA rebel surrender to Bulacan police

CAMP GEN. ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — A Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) member voluntarily surrendered to the Bulacan police on Tuesday (June 18).

In his statement on Wednesday (June 19), Col. Relly B. Arnedo, Bulacan provincial director identified the surrenderer as alias Ka Tony, 53 years old, tricycle driver, a member of Rebolusyonaryong Hukbong Bayan (RHB).

Ka Thony, according to Arnedo was operating in the coastal areas of Bulacan, Pampanga, and Bataan. He was convinced to join the aforementioned rebel group for government reform to attain equal rights to avoid social injustice.

Arnedo added that about 10 a.m. in Camp Alejo S Santos, Brgy. Guinhawa, Malolos, Bulacan, and joint elements of the 1st PMFC, together with Malolos CPS, Bulacan PIU, 301st MC RMFB, and 70IB PA facilitated the surrender of the subject.

Alias Ka Tony turned over one cal. .38 revolver with a serial number (66010), and three pieces cal .38 live ammunition.

The surrendered CTG member is presently under the custody of the 1st PMFC for investigation and custodial debriefing.

“Bulacan Police is stern in its intensified campaign against insurgency and terrorism to ensure the provision of social services, employment opportunities, and an improved quality of life in communities that have been experiencing or are vulnerable to armed communist conflict,” Arnedo said.
