BATAAN — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed a preventive maintenance work along a portion of Governor Joaquin J. Linao Road to provide better travel experience to locals and tourists in Bagac, Bataan.
DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Regional Office 3 Director Roseller A. Tolentino, said that a 2.1-kilometer section of Gov. J.J. Linao Road in Barangay Banawang, Bagac town was improved by DPWH Bataan Sub-District Engineering Office (DEO).
Aside from improving the road pavement condition, the preventive maintenance project with a budget of P31.84 million also involved clearing and grubbing as well as application of thermoplastic pavement markings to ensure visibility.
According to Secretary Bonoan, overlaying asphalt helps prolong service cycle of roads and prevent the need of rehabilitation, reconstruction, and upgrading.
With the enhanced road section, economic development in Bataan’s coastal areas facing the West Philippine Sea is expected through improved access to economic hubs, nature parks, and tourist destinations.
Gov. J. J. Linao Road is a national secondary road running through the towns of Pilar, Bagac, and Morong, and a vital part of Bataan’s road network as it effectively connects the east and west sides of the peninsula. (UnliNews Online)
