A TOTAL of 353 Tulong Panghanapbuhay para sa ating Disadvantage/Displaced (TUPAD) beneficiaries of Calumpit, Bulacan received P5,000 cash assistance after rendering 10-day street cleaning in their respective barangays.
Majority Floor Leader Senator Francis “Tol” Tolentino administered its TUPAD payout activity on Thursday afternoon (July11) at Collegio De Calumpit Sports Gymnasium in Brgy. Caniogan, Calumpit together with Mayor Lem Faustino, Vice Mayor Zacarias C. Candelaria and members of Sangguniang Bayan.
TUPAD is a community-based package of assistance and a regular program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) to provide emergency employment for displaced workers in the informal sector affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and those affected by the successive typhoons last year.
Lailani Reynoso, DOLE provincial director said during an interview that the 353 residents from 29 barangays of Calumpit will received P5,000 each for a total of P1,765.00.
“Lahat ng mga naging benepisaryo ng TUPAD program dito sa Calumpit ay mayroon ding insurance policy na makukuha kung sakaling magkaroon man ng hindi inaasahang aksidente habang sila ay nagtatrabaho,” Reynoso said.
Meanwhile, Sen. Tolentino said in his speech that the local officials should not go to the national government but the national officials should go to the local governments.
He also told the local residents to continue praying for our navy and cost guards regarding the ongoing dispute with the Chinese government in Bajo de Masinloc in Zambales.
“Hinihiling ko sa inyo mga taga-Calumpit na isama sa inyong mga dasal sa pang-araw araw na patnubayan ang ating mga sundalo na nagbabantay sa Pinag-aawayang teritoryo,” Tolentino said.
The Senate Majority Floor Leader said that he is ready to help Calumpiteños and Mayor Lem Faustino as much as I can.
On the the other hand, Sen. Tolentino said during an interview by the members of the media that the Filipino fisherman who survived a “hit-and run” collision last July 7 off the waters of Bajo de Masiloc in Zambales, is still recovering from the ordeal, while the latter’s brother, who went missing aftre the incident has yet to be located and rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard.
It was Tolentino who first broke the news of about a foreign commercial vessel that ran over and destroyed a fishing boat being used by Robert Mondeñedo, 47 years old and his younger brother Jose, 45, both fisherfolk from Subic, Zambales.
“Ang ilang ahensya ng pamahalaan ay sinulatan ko na, gaya ng Dept. of Justice para tumulong sa kaso,” he added.
Finally the senator said that the foreign shipping vessel , whose body bore Chinese characters, but was described by Robert Mondeñedo as bearing the words “Yang Fu” on the ship’s rear part, should be tracked and held accountable. (UnliNews Online)
