CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — A 56-year-old farmer listed as one of the Most Wanted Persons in the Bicol region was captured by authorities in Zambales, on Tuesday night (July 23).
PRO3 Director Gen. Jose S. Hidalgo Jr. identified the arrested individual as Mario Hamton y Furton, also known as Mario Amton y Furton or “Ka Alvin,” who had also been a significant figure in the Celso Minguez Command of the New People’s Army (NPA) in Sorsogon.
Hamton was nabbed by joint operatives of Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU) of Zambales PPO, San Marcelino Municipal Police Station, Zambales 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company (305th MC, RMFB 3), Provincial Intelligence Team Zambales, Regional Intelligence Unit 3 and other concerned units during a manhunt operation in Barangay San Rafael, San Narciso, Zambales where he is currently hiding.
The operation was carried out by a warrant of arrest issued by Hon. Emerson G Carpio, Acting Presiding Judge of the Municipal Trial Court, Fourth Judicial Region, Magallanes, Sorsogon. The warrant, dated August 4, 2022, was for the crime of attempted homicide, with a fixed bail of PHP 36,000.
The arrested fugitive was subsequently brought to San Marcelino MPS for proper disposition and is slated to be turned over to Gubat MPS, Sorsogon PPO.
