CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — In the spirit of bayanihan, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Bulacan 1st District Engineering Office (DEO) collaborates with the Department of Education (DepEd) in their “Brigada Eskwela” program, ensuring public schools are ready for the new academic year.
As of July 22, 2024, the district office has assisted five public schools with activities including school grounds improvement, grass cutting, tree and plant trimming, painting walls, stairs, and plant boxes, as well as drainage declogging and downspout cleaning, all of which are essential for creating a welcoming and safe environment for students and teachers alike.

To effectively carry out these tasks, OIC – District Maintenance Engineer Jaime Hernandez has organized maintenance teams to support schools such as Tikay Elementary School, Tuktukan Elementary School, Tabang Elementary School, San Agustin Elementary School, and Sta. Cruz Elementary School, located in the City of Malolos, Guiguinto, and Hagonoy.
“This organized approach ensures that each school receives the necessary attention and resources, effectively enhancing their readiness for the new academic year,” Hernandez said.
Reflecting on these efforts, District Engineer Henry Alcantara highlighted the office’s dedication to preparing all district schools for the new academic year through Brigada Eskwela, noting that the partnership with DepEd underscores their commitment to enhancing educational facilities.
“We take pride in contributing to our schools’ readiness for the school year. Our support aims to create a safe and conducive learning environment for both students and educators,” Alcantara emphasized.
Brigada Eskwela, a nationwide annual event promoting community involvement in school maintenance before the academic year begins, highlights the collective effort of various stakeholders to support education and foster community spirit. (UnliNews Online)
