DTI Bulacan, CSJDM conduct boot camp for micro entrepreneurs

THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI Bulacan), in partnership with the local government of the City of San Jose del Monte (CSJDM) and the Office of Congresswoman Florida Robes, conducted the “You Can Be Your Own Boss” (YCBYOB) training recently at the City Convention Center, CSJDM.

The event were attended by 29 microentrepreneur-members of Small Enterprise and Livelihood Development Association (SELDA) and three associates from the City’s Business Development Office (CSJDM-BDO).

The objective of YCBYOB is to provide participants with essential life and business skills that will help them improve their businesses. The training is comprised of 4 modules with 18 topics on entrepreneurial and life skills and culminated with a business pitching activity. The participants were provided with Learner’s Handbook which contains worksheets and modules.

DTI Bulacan OIC-Provincial Director Maria Cristina V. Valenzuela said that the training is interactive and composed of several workshops and hands-on activities valuing the participation of the learners.

Congresswoman Florida Robes Chief-of-Staff, Atty. Karla Danielle Salvador announced that YCBYOB completers will receive livelihood assistance and the person who will top the business pitching will receive a special award from the office of Congresswoman Robes.

The first day focused on self-assessment, visioning, and goal setting. This day delivered topics on design thinking, business insights, and developing business model canvas. The second day enhanced the participants’ marketing skills with a mock selling activity. This day also introduced business operations with insightful sharing from Mr. Edward Escobedo, owner of several businesses in CSJDM.

The third day discussed the importance of building teamwork and collaboration in the business team and proper management of finance and resources. The same day, the learners had a simulation game, Business Expense Savings Training (BEST) Game that let them experience the actual events and reality of business.

The last day is devoted to business pitching, with DTI Bulacan Business Development OIC-Division Chief Lota M. Yasa, DTI Bulacan Senior Trade Industry Development Specialist Alex Roy F. dela Cruz, CSJDM-BDO Associates Jodelle D. Condes and Guilmar P. Gonzales, and CSJDM Entrepreneurs Edward Escobedo and Grace Dianne B. Kang.

Before the conduct of YCBYOB, an orientation was held 30 May 2024 facilitated by TIDS Emmanuel R. Caleon where he introduced the objectives of the program and established expectations from the participants through the sharing of their business journey. (UnliNews Online)
