CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — A total of 2,886 Bulakenyos from the Cities of Malolos and San Jose Del Monte and the town of Bocaue received the P3-million Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) from the initiative of Senator Imee Romualdez Marcos this Thursday (April 13).
The beneficiaries who are all fishermen, living in the swamps and single parents were the response of the Marcos administration to the high price of goods.
“This is only temporary while addressing the long-term increase in food production,” the senator said.
She added beneficiaries were also advised to use it as a starting point to get other jobs and also for basic education and health needs. Up to P500 billion has been set aside from the 2023 national budget for various aid and subsidies.
Sen. Marcos along with Castro and Natividad distributed the DSWD-AICS payout to 875 Malolos residents who received P3,000 each held at the Walter Mart Mall in the City of Malolos.
“The Marcos family’s love for the Malolenyos has never wavered from then until now, which is why we are so grateful for their tireless support,” said Mayor Natividad.
Marcos was also accompanied by Vice Gov. Castro and Mayor Natividad in the distribution of quarterly allowance of more than 3,500 Barangay Health Workers (BHW) from the entire province which was conducted at the provincial capitol gymnasium also in the said city.
The team of Sen. Marcos immediately proceeded to the town of Bocaue and distributed the same financial assistance to 936 Bocaueños together with Mayor Eduardo Villanueva Jr.
After Bocaue, Marcos’ group went straight to the City of San Jose Del Monte and there conducted a DSWD-AICS for 975 residents with Castro, Congresswoman Rida Robes, and Mayor Arthur Robes.
The senator also gave P5 million each to the city government of Malolos and SJDM and the Municipality of Bocaue as financial aid to rice farmers.
Meanwhile, Sen. Marcos and Department of Agriculture (DA) Assistant Secretary Kristine Evangelista greeted the 10 young Bulacan farmers who are the initial beneficiaries of the Youth Farmers Challenge (YFC).
This is a program of the senator’s office to encourage more young people to choose agriculture or farming as a new profession and occupation. An initial investment of P550 thousand has been granted to them since 2021 and 2022. They are earning from P70 thousand to P1 million.
The DA will be accompanied to sell their agribusiness products in larger markets such as restaurants and designated Kadiwa Centers which are a farmers-consumers market chain. (UnliNews Online)
