Fiasco in ‘Ayuda’ distribution

WHEN talking about assistance programs like aid or ‘ayuda’ anywhere, it has different categories that help those in need especially in crisis situations, such as the previous Covid 19 pandemic, legislators in the upper and lower houses of Congress created the law that became the basis to initiate charitable programs that allocate funds for those in need.

Some of these programs are the Employment Assistance for our Displaced/Disadvantaged (TUPAD) College Educational Assistance Program.

Pre-qualified Beneficiaries

Assistance to Individual in Crisis Situation (AICS) and this AICS is always available. But the recipients do not know them because all they know the rules contained in AICS. “basta ‘ayuda’ lang” only (financial aid) nothing else.

When ‘ayuda’ arrives in any barangay in our country, the first to know when grace is poured out is the group of ‘marites’. (masisitsit/gossipmongers) They are the ones who always receive aid. It’s always just them. (sila-sila na lang palagi) They are the allies of their respective chieftains so they are the ones sent text messages by their bosses or the barangay volunteers tell them that they are among the aid recipients. But must be kept secret and not told to others.

The ‘mga anak ng diyos’, (sons of god) who side with their bosses usually talk about numbers. There are 1,200, there are also 5,200 and 5,600. Because most of the recipients are all ‘marites’, the news reaches those who do not receive ayuda, so they make noise on social media.

We all know that this government program is good because many families are helped. That’s why leaders should be indiscriminate and politics should not be mixed with charity work

As good public servants, there is no need to allow partisanship because you are the fathers and mothers of all your constituents. Remember that any financial assistance that comes from the national government comes from the taxes of the citizens. Those taxes simply go back into various assistance programs for all those in need, not selected families or individuals.

On the other hand, the financial aid provided by the government causes disunity because some are given and some are not. In fact, the priority people to receive financial aid are low-income workers, tricycle drivers, construction workers, single parents, farm workers, fishermen, senior citizens, domestic helpers and even jobless persons.

The question is this. Should Filipinos just rely on financial aid? What our leaders should do immediately is to strengthen the economy of our country, especially the field of the manufacturing industry because this sector needs many workers. Also strengthen the farming sector, even the fishery so that our livelihood can be further strengthened.

There will be more job opportunities, jobless Filipinos will have a job and many kababayans will no longer be dependent on financial aid or ayuda. (UnliNews Online)
