MARILAO, Bulacan — SM malls in Marilao, Baliwag, and Pulilan actively participated in the third quarter nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill (NSED) on Thursday (Sept. 26).
SM City Marilao led the earthquake drill observed by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Bulacan Provincial Fire Marshall FSSUPT (Atty.) Ernesto S. Pagdanganan, together with PNP Marilao PEMS Noli S. Albis and Marilao MDRRMO Assistant Head Dorothy Bonifacio.
The actual earthquake drill, participated by shoppers, tenants, and employees, took place during regular mall hours. Evacuation and rescue drill simulations were carried out to increase and strengthen the mall’s Emergency Response Team preparedness and coordination among tasked units.
Pagdanganan also conducted a lecture on earthquake preparedness attended by SM employees, agency personnel, tenants, and affiliates.
“Padanganan said that he focused his lecture in a like worst-case scenarios during earthquakes, evacuation routes, first aid treatment to a mock-up trauma victim, and contingency plans were discussed”.
“Kailangan natin laging handa tuwing may dumarating na kalamidad at kailangan ay may alam tayo sa first aid treatment,” Pagdanganan added.
Staged at exactly 9 a.m., various crisis scenarios of a 7.2-magnitude earthquake were presented in SM City Marilao. Evacuation and rescue drill simulations were carried out to increase and strengthen the mall’s Emergency Response Team’s preparedness and coordination among tasked units.
SM City Baliwag and SM Center Pulilan also took part in the nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill with a series of quick emergency response activities that include carrying out first aid procedures for projected situations such as severely injured victims and setting up an emergency command center and communication system.
