Police seize P1.5M worth of marijuana, arrest 2 suspects

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Authorities arrested two suspects and confiscated approximately 10 kilograms of suspected dried marijuana fruiting tops in Olongapo City on Tuesday morning (Oct. 8).

The suspects, identified as alias “Sapnu” and alias “Jojo” were apprehended by operatives of the Olongapo City Police Drug Enforcement Unit (CPDEU) with support from Police Station 5 SPDEU and Zambales Police Intelligence Unit during a buy-bust operation conducted at around 4:50 AM along Clark St., Brgy. Sta. Rita, Olongapo City

Confiscated from the duo were one zip-locked bag, ten bricks of suspected dried marijuana weighing around 10 kilograms, with a standard drug price of Php 1,500,000.00 and Php 1,000 bill marked money.

Appropriate charges for violation of RA 9165 are now being readied against the suspects for court referral.

Brig. Gen. Redrico A. Maranan, Regional Director of PRO3, praised the coordinated efforts of the law enforcement units involved in the operation.

“This successful operation demonstrates our unwavering commitment to eradicating illegal drugs from our communities. We will continue to intensify our efforts to ensure that those involved in the illegal drug trade are held accountable,” Maranan stated.

He added, “Our focus remains on safeguarding the safety and well-being of our citizens by maintaining a strong stance against illegal drugs. We encourage the community to support our initiatives in creating a drug-free environment for all.” (UnliNews Online)
