THE lavish lifestyle of the politician brandishing their luxury bags and expensive jewelries especially during session hearings and sorties is disgusting to watch especially to the poor and the needy.
The total amount of those lavishness is enough to feed a barangay or can supply sacks of rice to a community. The possession of LVs, Hermes, Patek and other premium brands depict an image of being powerful for the almighty politicians.
The struggling middle class is in danger to be vanished in our country due to the escalating inflation despite the assurances from the Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) and the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) that the price index is at normal level and going down.

These assurances are not felt in the “laylayan” segment of the populace. The wet market vendors and traders are suffering due to lack of people buying or experiencing limited sales because people simply cannot cope up with the high costs of living expenses. The working classes need to draw down on their savings to augment their income.
There are politicians that are insensitive to the needs of their constituents and continue to flaunt their riches, such nerve. On the contrary there are legitimate “rich” demographic in our society, these are the old rich people, taipans, and successful businessmen.
Take for example Ramon Ang with a net worth of USD3.6B receiving numerous awards and recognitions for his business acumen and contributions to the Philippine economy has stayed frugal and simple in lifestyle despite his riches.
The SM conglomerates headed by Tessie Sy-Coson considered as the country’s riches woman. I remember the last time I encountered the very down to earth Ms. Coson fixing things in her office on a Saturday while Harley Sy, her brother is leading me to see the merchandising office and reminiscing our days in retail trading (as garment supplier for SM).
The sibling’s manifest modesty and simplicity and no trace of being boastful and braggart considering their billions of assets. These are only two examples on how to act rich that is not intimidating unlike the one’s we see and watch in the social media and on television about the flaunt of some people especially politicians.
I have seen the likes of the Sy sibling in socials and formal gatherings. These people refuse to be recognized and be given VIP treatment that they deserve.
They wore simple attire and matching jewelries that are not offensive to the sensibilities of the other present in the gathering. These characteristics is an epitome of outmost humility unlike the others less wealthy who love to flaunt their designer clothes, handbags and jewels and enjoying the attention they are getting and feeling entitled.
In the past days at the House of Representatives, we witnessed the grilling officials in pinning down the vice president. As a viewer and observer and in my own views, I suspect an orchestrated effort to pin down the VP on the topic at hand about the confidential and intelligence funds. What is noticeable is that why only the OVP is being questioned about the CIF? How about the other government agencies like the Office of the President (OP)? or the DND? The current CIF budget allocated to the OP according to the Budget Secretary is pegged at Php4.5 billion.
Very insulting to the senses of the Filipinos are the Richard Mille, Patek Philippe and Rolexes on the wrists of those in the panel as luxury bags in like LVs, Channel, Dior, Hermes etc. hung from their arms, sashaying in their international and aced designer clothes on as they show their multi-million, latest model BMW’s, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus and other motor vehicles. The blatant flaunting of riches coming from the taxes of the people while Juan dela Cruz continue to suffer and bleed. (UnliNews Online)
