PBBM inaugurates NLEX Candaba 3rd Viaduct

To enhance mobility between Pampanga and Bulacan

CITY OF MALOLOS — Marking a significant milestone in the country’s infrastructure development, President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. led the inauguration of the NLEX Candaba 3rd Viaduct as part of the NLEX Corporation’s decongestion program held at the North Polo Club, Pulilan, Bulacan on Wednesday (Dec. 11).

Spanning five kilometers, the newly completed viaduct is recognized as a vital component of the Administration’s ‘Build Better More’ infrastructure program, consisting of three lanes built between two existing viaducts which offers a faster, safer and more efficient route for motorists traveling between Pulilan, Bulacan and Apalit, Pampanga.

PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. during the inaugural run at the Candaba 3rd Viaduct project of the North Luzon Expressway on Wednesday (Dec. 11, 2024) with Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan.

Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan highlighted in his message that the project was successfully completed four months ahead of schedule, overcoming significant challenges such as typhoons.

“Built with the latest construction techniques to save time and costs, the third system was done in 20 months and paves the way for a more vibrant North, boosting trade and uniting communities as well as easing congestion especially during this holiday season,” Pangilinan said.

In his address, President Marcos said that the viaduct has likewise evolved to meet the needs of a growing population and economy, and underscored that its completion is a testament of their commitment to enriching connectivity, opportunity and a brighter future.

“For nearly five decades, this bridge has carried the aspirations of countless Filipinos – workers, farmers, entrepreneurs, businessmen, families and bringing them together closer to their destinations, to their loved ones, and to their work… From a two-lane design, it is expanded to three lanes in each direction in 2017 and now accommodating over 80,000 motorists every day,” the President said.

Meanwhile, Governor Daniel R. Fernando emphasized the viaduct’s alignment with the Provincial Government of Bulacan’s long-term development plan to become a first-world economic powerhouse by 2040.

“This infrastructure strengthens Bulacan’s position as a key driver of economic growth in Central Luzon. It will benefit businesses, residents, and travelers by ensuring safer and more efficient travel. This is yet another step toward realizing our vision of a progressive and globally competitive Bulacan,” the governor said. (UnliNews Online)
