Cordillerans amplifies support for WPS advocacy

BAGUIO CITY — The 1st Civil Relations Group, CRSAFP under the Operational Control of Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) Armed Forces of the Philippines, in collaboration with the City Government of Baguio and the National Youth Commission, Region 1 and CAR Cluster hosted the “TRIB-YOUTH for WEST PHILIPPINE SEA” recently at Malcolm Square, Lower Session Road, Baguio City.

This activity was a vibrant fusion of musical and cultural performances which aims to raise awareness and support for the Philippine government’s nonviolent campaign about the West Philippine Sea.

It also celebrated the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ 89th Founding Anniversary, highlighting its dedication to defending the country’s sovereignty and enabling its people—especially the young—to speak up for our country’s interests.

TRIB represents the inherent traits of the Filipino Youth: Talented, Responsible, Informed and Brave, which the country needs to tap in moving the country strongly towards one clear direction.

In addition to promoting the intellectual growth of the Filipino people, this event seeks to safeguard the youth sector’s cognitive domain in the direction of a socially cohesive nation by offering a broader viewpoint and a deeper comprehension of the problems surrounding the West Philippine Sea.

Present in the said activity are the local performers from the different uniformed services, youth groups, academes, personalities, and sectoral organizations in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), which unites in supporting and promoting the government’s efforts in safeguarding national sovereignty and regional stability.

Meanwhile, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong as the Keynote Speaker of the activity underscore the importance of asserting sovereignty over the West Philippine Sea to protect the Nation’s interests and secure the future for generations to come.

“Itong laban natin sa West Philippine Sea ay kailangan ng ating unity or solidarity. Hindi po tayo pwedeng hati-hati dito or divided. Sama-sama po tayo dito. Kailangan po nating ipaglaban ang ating karapatan. Itong West Philippine Sea, ito na po ang future ng ating mga kabataan at ako po ay natutuwa na nagkaroon po tayo ng ganitong aktibidad. It is about time that our young people take the lead. It is about time that our young people should participate in decision making. It is about time that us elders, tayong mga nakatatanda dapat ay marunong na tayong makinig sa ating mga ipinaglalaban ngayon. Atin ang West Philippine Sea. Ito po ang kinabukasan ng ating mga batang henerasyon ngayon. Sama-sama po tayong magkaisa sa laban na ito.”

The success of the event was credited to the collective efforts of partners and stakeholders which do not just foster the patriotism of the Filipino People but also the testament of the commitment of the United Cordillerans in protecting our freedom and sovereignty against those who seek to destroy it.
