PRO3 seizes 46 firearms, arrests 36 in intensified pre-election crackdown

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — With the May 2025 national and local elections fast approaching, the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3), under the leadership of Regional Director Brig. Gen. Jean Fajardo, has intensified its campaign against loose firearms, ensuring a safe and orderly electoral process across Central Luzon.

From January 10 to February 8, PRO3 successfully executed 39 search warrants, leading to the confiscation of 46 assorted firearms and the arrest of 36 individuals involved in illegal possession of firearms. Notably, Nueva Ecija emerged as the top-performing province, carrying out 23 successful search operations, reflecting its strong commitment to preventing election-related violence.

Fajardo underscored the importance of these intensified efforts, noting that illegal firearms are often linked to crimes and election-related violence.

“We are taking decisive action to keep communities safe as we head toward the May 2025 elections. By strictly enforcing firearms regulations, we are ensuring that lawless elements have no place to operate. This is a shared responsibility—our commitment is firm, but public cooperation is key to securing a peaceful election,” she stated.

PRO3 continues to strengthen its operations in close coordination with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and other law enforcement agencies, reinforcing its mission to account for unlicensed firearms and neutralize potential threats to public safety.

Fajardo urged the public to play an active role in maintaining peace and security. “We call on everyone to report any illegal activities involving firearms. Your vigilance and cooperation are crucial in protecting our communities and ensuring that the upcoming elections are peaceful and fair for all,” she added.

The PRO3 remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering a violence-free election. Citizens are encouraged to report concerns to their nearest police station or through PRO3’s official hotline and social media platforms. (UnliNews Online)
