Fernando inculcates Gen. Alejo Santos’ mindset to Bulakenyos, praises BPPO for keeping Bulacan safe

CAMP ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — “It can be done.”

Imitating the famous military line and mindset of Brigadier General Alejo S. Santos, Governor Daniel R. Fernando reminded Bulakenyos that through solidarity, everything is possible and can be done during his speech at the commemoration of the 41st Death Anniversary of General Santos on Tuesday, (Feb. 18).

BULACAN Governor Daniel R. Fernando, Vice Governor Alex Castro and Col. Satur Ediong, Bulacan provincial director and some relatives of Brigadier General Alejo S. Santos gave tribute at his monument inside Camp Alejo Santos in commemoration of his 41st Death Anniversary on Tuesday (Feb. 18, 2025). (PPAO)

“Nais kong ipaalala ang tanyag na military mindset ni General Alejo Santos na ‘It can be done.’ Basta’t tayo po ay nagkakaisa at nagtutulungan, everything can be done. Everything is possible,” he said.

Fernando also added that Gen. Santos’ valuable service to Bulakenyos serves as his great inspiration in leading the province as the governor.

Moreover, he praised the Bulacan Provincial Police Office (BPPO)’s dedication in keeping the peace and order in the province through the leadership of Provincial Director PCol. Satur L. Ediong.

“Kasabay ng ating paggunita, ipinapahayag din natin ang ating papuri sa maigting na pagpapanatili ng kaligtasan, kaayusan at kapayapaan dito sa Bulacan. Ito po ay dahil sa dedikasyon sa tungkulin ng ating mga kapulisan,” Fernando said.

It can be remembered that Vice Governor Alexis C. Castro has summoned a hearing last February 13 regarding several alarming social media posts, wherein Ediong highlighted the efforts done by the Bulacan PPO in curbing the crime rate in the province such as their campaign against the “agaw motorsiklo”, white van kidnapping narratives, and hold-upping incidents.

Meanwhile, Liberty Santos Dumlao, daughter of Gen. Santos, also shared a message, emphasizing the contributions her father has done not only for the province but also for the country.

OIC Department Head of the Provincial History, Arts, Culture, and Tourism Office May Arlene DG. Torres was also present at the event to share Gen. Santos’ historic feats in public service.

Born in July 17, 1911 in the town of Bustos, Gen. Santos was elected as congressman of the second district of Bulacan in 1949. He then became governor from 1951-1957 before being appointed as the Chairman of the Philippine Reparation Mission in Japan and as Secretary of National Defense under former President Carlos P. Garcia’s term.

He was also appointed by former President Ferdinand Marcos, Sr. as the head of the prison bureau in 1967. (UnliNews Online)
