CITY OF SAN JOSE DEL MONTE, Bulacan — The Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial candidates, who belong to different political parties, have set aside their differences to realize their shared goal of improving the Filipinos’ lives, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said Friday (Feb. 28).
During the Alyansa’s campaign rally at City College of San Jose del Monte here, Marcos said he would not be surprised if the senatorial candidates of the opposition party and other political parties are getting “nervous” because his preferred candidates are most qualified to occupy the Senate seats.
Marcos urged Bulacan voters to choose the Alyansa slate, assuring them of the candidates’ good track record and plans for the country.
Marcos said the Alyansa bets are ready to listen to public sentiments and concerns, as well as to offer solutions to the pressing issues confronting the country.
“Iyan po ang kailangan natin sa Senado, ang nakikinig sa tao, hindi nile-lecturan ang tao,” he said.
Bulacan, one of the country’s vote-rich provinces, has 2,173,026 registered voters for the May 2025 midterm elections, making San Jose del Monte City a crucial stop in the Alyansa campaign.
The Alyansa ticket is fielding former Interior secretary Benhur Abalos; Makati City Mayor Abby Binay; incumbent Senators Ramon Revilla Jr., Pia Cayetano, Lito Lapid, Imee Marcos and Francis Tolentino; former senators Panfilo Lacson, Manny Pacquiao and Vicente Sotto III; and House lawmakers Erwin Tulfo and Camille Villar.
The 12 candidates are from five political parties — Partido Federal ng Pilipinas, Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats, Nationalist People’s Coalition, Nacionalista Party and National Unity Party.
The Alyansa bets wooed the Bulacan voters with a promise to push for measures that would propel economic growth and urban development.
