4 former NPA rebels in Tarlac yield to authorities

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — Four former rebels of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) were returned to the folds of the law and surrendered their firearms in Tarlac on Tuesday (April 25).

Based on the reports to Brig. Gen. Jose S. Hidalgo Jr., personnel of 2nd PMFC Tarlac together with other concerned police units facilitated the voluntary surrender of a former Militia ng Bayan member and three (3) former Anak Pawis members at 2nd PMFC Headquarters, Brgy. Malacampa, Camiling, Tarlac.

“Ka Libreng” a former member of KLG-TARZAM (Militia ng Bayan) voluntarily surrendered and turned in his one Cal. 38 revolver Jaguar 357 Magnum; four pieces of Cal. 38 live ammunition and one piece of 40mm high explosive.

Also, three former members of Anak Pawis, identified as “Ka Ser,” “Ka Rico,” and “Ka Tisoy” withdrew their support and turned in one piece of 40mm high explosive.

Gen. Hidalgo said that the continuous local peace engagement activities of the Philippine National Police in support of NTF-ELCAC have made the CTGs aware of the government’s program and the opportunity to correct the mistakes they have committed due to deception. (UnliNews Online)
