CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — The House of Representatives welcomed its newest member on Tuesday (May 30), as former DSWD Secretary Erwin Tulfo took his oath of office.
Tulfo automatically assumed the seat left vacant by Anti-Crime and Terrorism Community Development Support (ACT-CIS) third nominee, Jeffrey Soriano, in accordance with Section 16 of the Republic Act No. 7491.
“As I assume this role, I am mindful of the immense responsibility that comes with it. I vow to work tirelessly to uphold the interests of my constituents and to contribute to the legislative agenda of the House. I will do my best to honor the trust that has been placed upon me and to serve the Filipino people with utmost dedication and integrity,” Tulfo said.
Tulfo’s appointment follows the dismissal of a petition for disqualification against him last May 25, 2023. With Tulfo being the fourth nominee submitted by the partylist to COMELEC, he is entitled to assume the seat vacated by Soriano with an unexpired term.
House Majority Floor Leader Hon. Manuel Jose M. Dalipe presided over Tulfo’s oath-taking ceremony, congratulating him on his new role and acknowledging his extensive experience in public service. Tulfo expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve as a representative of the people, promising to work tirelessly to uphold the interests of his constituents and contribute to the legislative agenda of the House.
As a former government official, Tulfo brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to his new role in the House of Representatives. His appointment is expected to strengthen the legislative body’s capacity to address key issues affecting the country, particularly those related to social welfare and development.
The House of Representatives looks forward to working with Tulfo as he assumes his new responsibilities and contributes to the ongoing efforts to promote the welfare and well-being of all Filipinos. (UnliNews Online)
