CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — In a testament to the relentless campaign against local insurgency, five former members of the communist terrorist group (CTG) and communist front organizations (CFO) have voluntarily turned themselves in to Central Luzon authorities. Alongside their surrender, they handed over their firearms and ammunition.
On Monday (Aug. 14), in Nueva Ecija, a former participant of the Underground Mass Movement of Liga ng Manggagawang Bukid willingly presented himself to the police, relinquishing a .38 caliber revolver and its ammunition. Similarly, an ex-Militiang Bayan member, known as “Win,” surrendered a .38 caliber revolver and ammunition at 302nd MC RMFB3 in Brgy. Sto. Tomas Lubao, Pampanga.
“Win,” recruited by the CTG in 1986, had been tasked with transporting supplies and providing military intelligence. He has received initial cash assistance to aid his reintegration into the community.
On Sunday, (Aug. 13), “Michael,” a former Militiang Bayan fighter from Zambales, voluntarily surrendered, submitting a Cal.22 Revolver. Meanwhile, two women in Bataan renounced their ties with ANAKPAWIS (CFO of CPP-NPA-NDF) and surrendered a .38 caliber revolver with ammunition to the local police.
“We embrace our surrendering individuals not as foes, but as kin. They were ensnared by misleading ideologies that led them down the path of armed conflict. We extend an invitation to active CTG/CFO members to rejoin lawful society and embrace a brighter future,” Brig. Gen. Jose S. Hidalgo Jr., PRO3 regional director, conveyed. (UnliNews Online)
