Bulacan 1st DEO hosts DPWH Region III staff meeting

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan — For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Public Works and Highways – Region III held its Regional Staff Meeting outside its headquarters in Pampanga, with the Bulacan 1st District Engineering Office graciously hosting the event on Monday (Sept. 11).

District Engineer Henry Alcantara and Assistant District Engineer Brice Ericson Hernandez extended a warm welcome to the participants, which included Region 3 Director Roseller Tolentino, Assistant Regional Director Melquiades Sto. Domingo, Division Chiefs, key personnel from the Regional Office, and District and Assistant District Engineers.

In his opening remarks, Alcantara conveyed their enthusiasm for accommodating all attendees, expressed their delight in hosting the Regional Staff Meeting, and extended an offer to share the newly-built multipurpose facility with the Regional Office and other DEOs interested in conducting seminars or sports activities.

In response, Tolentino commended Alcantara for constructing a conducive and spacious facility, ideal for hosting office gatherings, and expressed that this structure will contribute to an improved work-life balance for employees.

During the meeting, Tolentino conveyed his policy instructions, emphasizing the importance of District and Assistant District Engineers coordinating with the Planning Service to align their infrastructure projects in the 2024 National Expenditure Program with the agency’s core mandate and to ensure the completion of all projects funded under the 2023 national budget.

Moreover, Tolentino urged all DEOs, especially those situated in flood-prone areas like Bulacan and Pampanga, to acquire water-based equipment capable of addressing flooding issues, which may involve activities such as tributary dredging.

Finally, within the DPWH’s strategy to enhance Central Luzon’s economy, Tolentino added that the initiation of feasibility studies for new bypass roads plays a pivotal role in improving regional connectivity, enhancing transportation efficiency, stimulating economic growth, and ensuring better accessibility across the region.

The meeting proper was moderated by Chief Administrative Officer Evelyn De Jesus with the support of officials and employees of Bulacan 1st DEO. (UnliNews Online)
